Care & Use Guide
Farberware Care & Warranty
Proper care keeps your Farberware performing like new for decades. Follow these material-specific guides to clean, maintain, and protect your investment.

Cleaning Guide
Stainless Steel Care
Stainless steel is one of the most durable cookware materials, but it requires the right care to stay looking polished and performing evenly. Follow these steps to remove heat tints, mineral deposits, and stuck-on food without damaging the surface.
Cool Before Cleaning
Always allow your stainless steel cookware to cool completely before washing. Immersing a hot pan in cold water causes thermal shock and can warp the base over time, reducing contact with flat cooktops.
Wash with Warm Soapy Water
For everyday cleaning, wash with warm water and a mild dish soap using a soft cloth or non-abrasive sponge. Rinse thoroughly and dry immediately with a soft towel to prevent water spots and mineral deposits.
Removing Heat Tints (Blue/Rainbow Discoloration)
Blue or rainbow discoloration — called heat tints — occurs when stainless steel is exposed to high heat. Remove it by soaking a soft cloth in white vinegar and rubbing the affected area in circular motions, or use a specialized stainless steel cleaner like Bar Keepers Friend.
Tackling Stuck-On Food
Fill the pan with warm water and a drop of dish soap, bring to a gentle simmer on the stovetop, then use a wooden spoon to loosen residue. Avoid steel wool pads — they leave micro-scratches that trap bacteria and dull the finish.
Restoring the Shine
For a mirror-bright finish, apply a small amount of Bar Keepers Friend powder or cream to a damp cloth and rub in the direction of the steel's grain lines. Rinse thoroughly. This removes light staining and restores the original polish.
- –Use Bar Keepers Friend
- –Hand-wash recommended
- –Dry immediately
- –Use soft cloths
- –Use steel wool pads
- –Soak overnight
- –Wash while hot
- –Use chlorine bleach
Cleaning Guide
Nonstick Surface Care
Nonstick coatings require gentler handling than stainless steel. The rules are simple, but ignoring them shortens the life of the coating dramatically. Follow these five steps to keep your nonstick release performing like new.
Hand-Wash Recommended
While many Farberware nonstick pans are dishwasher-safe, consistent hand-washing dramatically extends the life of the coating. The high heat and harsh detergents in dishwashers gradually degrade nonstick surfaces, reducing their release performance.
Use Only Soft Utensils
Always cook with silicone, wood, or nylon utensils. Metal spatulas, whisks, and spoons — even lightly dragged — can score the nonstick coating, creating areas where food sticks and potentially allowing coating particles to enter food.
Avoid High Heat
Nonstick surfaces are designed for low-to-medium heat cooking. Overheating an empty nonstick pan (above 500°F / 260°C) can degrade the coating and reduce its effectiveness. Always heat with oil or food in the pan.
Cool Before Washing
Allow the pan to cool to room temperature before rinsing. Running cold water over a hot nonstick surface can cause thermal warping of the base and may weaken the bond between the coating and the pan.
Store with Protection
Stack nonstick pans with a soft cloth, felt pan protector, or paper towel between them. Direct metal-on-metal stacking is the leading cause of coating scratches in most home kitchens.
- –Hand-wash gently
- –Use silicone/wood tools
- –Season with oil monthly
- –Store with protectors
- –Use metal utensils
- –Overheat empty pan
- –Use abrasive cleaners
- –Stack without padding

Material Safety
Oven & Temperature Safety Chart
Different handle materials have different heat tolerances. Always check your specific product's label, but use this chart as a quick reference before putting any Farberware piece in the oven or under a broiler.
| Handle Type | Description | Oven Safe To | Broiler Safe | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Phenolic Handles | Classic black bakelite handles found on the Classic Series | 350°F / 175°C | No | Avoid placing handles near open flame or direct broiler heat |
| Stainless Steel Handles | Solid stainless found on Millennium and High Performance lines | 500°F / 260°C | Yes | Use oven mitts — handles get very hot in the oven |
| Silicone-Wrapped Handles | Silicone grip sleeves on select Millennium pieces | 400°F / 205°C | No | Silicone sleeves are removable on some models before oven use |
| Nonstick Pans (All handles) | Any pan with nonstick coating, regardless of handle type | 350°F–500°F* | No | *Varies by collection — check individual product label |
